CABOT, Ark. – Officials with Cabot Public Schools said that all the schools in the district will have an increased police presence after school officials say they were notified of a threat.
According to a message sent to parents Tuesday night, school district officials were informed about a note found in a bathroom at Cabot High School earlier in the day.
Officials said the note made a threat against Cabot schools, specifically at 8 a.m. Wednesday. The note did not mention which schools, officials said.
As a precaution, district officials said that authorities with the Cabot Police Department, Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office and Ward police will be present in and around the schools in the district.
Officials with Cabot Public Schools are asking anyone with information relating to the note to contact school officials or law enforcement.
This incident comes just days after police in Maumelle took precautions after receiving a tip of a possible threat. During the investigation, detectives determined that there was no threat to the schools in the area.
A week ago, police in Russellville arrested a juvenile after they were accused of making a threat against Russellville Junior High School in a social media post. The juvenile was not identified but is expected to face charges.
