Little Rock officials identify ward-specific streets, drainage projects

After traveling from ward to ward in Little Rock and hearing the public’s input on streets and drainage improvements, Little Rock officials drafted a collection of projects for the Little Rock Board of Directors to approve.

The improvements would be paid for using bond funds from the millage extension voters approved in 2022. Each ward had about $4.5 million to spend in the first allotment of the bond money. The Little Rock Board of Directors is expected to approve the bundle of projects at its meeting on May 2.

A total of 78 projects are listed. You can read through them all here.

At least nine projects were listed in each ward, including street resurfacing for each ward. Other projects include crosswalks and sidewalks, drive drainages and road widenings. Ward 6, which is Little Rock’s west central area, had the most projects listed with 14.

An additional $1.3 million in bond funds for streets and drainage was allocated for city-wide projects. The two proposed projects are intersection improvements for Kanis Road at Panther Branch Drive and Chenal Boulevard at Chenal Club.
