Officers with the Cabot Police Department shot and injured 51-year-old Douglas Nutter around midnight Wednesday, according to a release from the Arkansas State Police.
Officers responded to a call at the Cabot Emergency Hospital with concerns about an “altercation” involving Nutter. According to on-scene officers, Nutter ignored commands to stop driving, ending up at a residence on Shady Lane in Lonoke County. After he failed to follow orders, officers fired their weapons and shot Nutter in the hand.
Nutter was treated at UAMS in Little Rock for injuries to his right hand and transported to the Cabot Police Department upon release. He will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault on an officer, felony fleeing and reckless driving.
The Arkansas State Police are investigating the officer-involved shooting. Both the Cabot Police Department and ASP would not release any further information Wednesday afternoon. The officers involved have not been named.
