JONESBORO, Ark. – A vehicle stolen from a Jonesboro driveway over the weekend was later recovered in Cabot, and police believe it may be connected to several other crimes that occurred during the same time frame.
The theft occurred between midnight and 7:30 a.m. on September 30 at the 5200 block of Shasta Drive in Jonesboro. A 2018 GMC Yukon was stolen from the victim’s driveway, and a laptop computer was inside the vehicle.
On Monday, October 2, the Jonesboro Police Department (JPD) received notification that the stolen vehicle had been located in Cabot. Authorities in Cabot reported that the vehicle had been abandoned at a residence, and another vehicle was stolen in its place.
Police suspect that this theft is linked to a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred over the weekend in Jonesboro. On the morning of September 30, police discovered that a vehicle had been broken into at the 3600 block of Ridgeway Circle, with signs of the break-in dating back to the previous night. Additionally, at the 3700 block, police found a discarded Glock case in the yard.
Later that morning, a report was filed regarding a vehicle break-in at the 800 block of West Jefferson Avenue. The break-in occurred between 12:05 a.m. and 12:15 a.m. Items stolen included identification, credit cards, a checkbook, and a wallet.
Several vehicle break-ins coupled with thefts were also reported on Merrell Drive.
The report describes a black male suspect aged between 13 and 25 years old, but provides little other information.
