NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A $1.7 million-plus grant from a state agency will modernize an Arkansas secondary education program.
The Arkansas Department of Commerce Office of Skills Development awarded Pulaski Technical College’s Advanced Manufacturing Program a grant of $1,784,016. The money will be used to modernize the college’s North Little Rock training facilities for the program.
Officials with the college said the upgrades will center on CNC and machining facility upgrades and to work closely with employer partners on the implementation of upgrades.
College Dean of Technical and Professional Studies Angela Kremers said the upgrade was an urgent need.
“UA-PTC is working to meet employer partners’ continued demand and is poised for growth and modernization,” Kremers said. “There is an urgent need for equipment and expansion of the advanced manufacturing program.”
Kremers added that an expanded apprenticeship program was also a factor in the need for upgrades.
A memorandum of understanding between the department and Pulaski Tech’s trustees confirmed the grant will continue through Dec. 31.
Information on the Advanced Manufacturing Program may be found on the college’s website.
