For one sibling duo, this day was a day for both of them to experience prom for the first time.

Derrik Banks said he saw his chance at a prom taken away by the COVID-19 pandemic so when his little sister invited him to the Pre-K prom, he said it made him feel special.

“It was real special cause during 2020 I spent a lot of money and didn’t get to go to prom so when I heard she was having one, she wanted me to go with her so it kind of made me feel real special,” Banks said.

Their principal Dr. Physhuna Jones noted she enjoys watching the kids pull out all the stops for the celebration.

“I think I’m most excited about seeing the outfits, I mean they go all out,” she said.
