Could Lyon College in Batesville locate its Institute of Health Sciences in Cabot?
This week’s Page 1 story has an update on the progress of the veterinary school, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2025.
As you know, a deal to put the school on the Heifer International headquarters campus in Little Rock fell through in November, and no new location has been announced. Lyon had also planned to put a new dental school on the Heifer campus just south of the Clinton Presidential Library.
Lyon College “continues to explore locations” in central Arkansas, Melissa Taverner, president of the college, said in a statement to Whispers. And Little Rock remains its preferred location.
“City of Cabot representatives approached Lyon College months ago with an opportunity to locate the dental and veterinary medicine schools in their community through a public-private partnership,” she said. “This, along with ongoing talks in Little Rock, gives us great optimism that we will be able to make an official location announcement soon.”
