Garland County deputies receive Naloxone Life Saving Award

GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. – Several Garland County deputies were recognized for their service in helping the fight against opioid overdoses in the community.

Sheriff McCormick with the Garland County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that the following members were recipients of the Naloxone Life Saving Award:

Captain Shawn Stapleton, Corporal Thomas Fox, Corporal Alex Hollaway, Deputy Chris Brinsfield, Deputy Charles DeLaHunt, Deputy John Dodge, Deputy Eduardo Grajeda and Deputy Candace Presley

Naloxone is a medicine used to reverse an opioid overdose.

McCormick said the officers were able to recognize when to administer naloxone to a person experiencing an opioid overdose, saving eight lives.

Fox was also presented with the Sheriff’s Office Life Saving Award and Smith was presented with the Sheriff’s Office 5 Years of Service Award.
