Arkansas Times publisher Alan Leveritt, who moonlights as a bourbon slugging Bayou Meto farmer, will be dropping off 400 pounds of his organic, farm-grown tomatoes (free of any chemical pesticides or fungicides) to Edwards Food Giant in the Tanglewood Shopping Center in Little Rock and the new North Little Rock store in the Lakewood Village Shopping Center on Wednesday.

The Fourth of July tomato drop has become an annual tradition for Leveritt, who grows his tomatoes on a farm in north Pulaski County. He’s known for his Goldies, Carbons, Cherokee Purples and Ananas Noire varieties and his rugged good looks. If you want to take part and bite into a ripe, delicious Arkansas grown masterpiece while setting off fireworks with loved ones, you’d better get to Edwards first thing tomorrow morning for the final drop of 2024.

“When I arrived at the stores beginning about 7:30 a.m. last week, they had a waiting list of call backs at both stores from people calling to see if they were in yet,” Leveritt said.

See you at 7:30.
