JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas State Police arrested a 17-year-old after special agents said a road rage incident led to a shooting earlier this month.
According to ASP officials, the teen, who is from Jacksonville, was arrested Sunday in connection to the incident that happened on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Special agents said that a man from Maumelle was shot in the eye while traveling behind the teen. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released.
ASP officials said the teen is facing charges of committing a terroristic act, unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and minor in possession of a firearm.
The teen will be charged as an adult in the incident, officials said.
“We hope this incident illustrates for the public that when they report a road rage incident and follow through by making a report, the Arkansas State Police will do everything in their power to get justice and remove violent individuals from the streets,” ASP Colonel Mike Hagar said. “There are serious consequences for senseless violent acts like this.”
The teen suspect is being held in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
