JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – Construction on Highway 67/167 in Jacksonville will cause overnight closures beginning this weekend.
Officials with the Arkansas Department of Transportation said crews will be working to widen the highway 2.5 miles to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard.
Construction will require 15-minute full highway closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 through Tuesday, Nov. 26 between North James Street off- and on-ramps.
Crews will stop traffic on all northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 67/167 at North James Street for bridge work. Traffic can exit at North James Street to the frontage road and return to the highway at the next on-ramp to Highway 67/167 to bypass the 15-minute delays.
Southbound lanes between the North James Street off-and on-ramps will be closed starting at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22. They will reopen once traffic has been shifted onto new pavement. Traffic will exit at North James Street to the frontage road and return to the highway at the next on-ramp to Highway 67/167.
ARDOT officials said traffic will be directed with message boards, construction barrels, barricades and signs. Drivers are advised to be cautious in work zones.
