JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Department of Transportation officials said a highway-widening project in Jacksonville will close a section of the highway for several nights.
ARDOT officials said construction to widen Highway 67/167 to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenburg Boulevard will lead to a full northbound closure at Exit 10A, North James Street. The closure is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Sunday, Dec. 15 through Tuesday morning, Dec. 17.
ARDOT officials said if the weather permits, crews will close all northbound lanes of Highway 67/167 at North James Street to allow crews to perform emergency pavement repairs. They said traffic would be controlled with message boards, construction barrels and signage, and they urged caution when traveling in the work zone.
A large part of Highway 67 was re-designated as Interstate 57 in November. The 110 miles of road from North Little Rock to Walnut Ridge will soon connect with the existing I-57, a 400-mile north-south corridor stretching from Chicago, Illinois, south to Sikeston, Missouri.
The Jacksonville project is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program.
