LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – University of Central Arkansas defensive end David Walker was announced the winner of the 2024 Buck Buchanan Award.
The Stuttgart native became the first player in UCA history to win the award, beating out finalists Jeremiah Grant from Richmond and TJ Moore from Mercer.
The Buck Buchanan award debuted in 1995 and honors the most outstanding defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
In its history, it has been awarded to several future NFL players including Dexter Coakley, Rashean Mathis and Jared Allen.
Walker’s win comes after also being named FCS National Defensive Player of the Year on Thursday.
He led the United Athletic Conference in tackles for loss and sacks. He also set the UCA career records in both categories with 31 sacks and 60 tackles for loss.
