CABOT, Ark. – On Monday, Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin announced that a teenager from Cabot has been arrested and is facing charges involving possession of child sexual abuse materials.
In a release, Griffin said that agents from his Special Investigations Division executed a search warrant on May 23 after receiving six cyber tips from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Griffin said that 19-year-old Elijah Johnson of Cabot was arrested that day for reportedly uploading child sexual abuse materials.
He said that after conducting a digital forensic examination of the devices that were seized, agents determined that one of the cell phones recovered at Johnson’s home contained material depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.
Griffin said that Johnson was arrested, and he thanked deputies with the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the arrest.
“On June 6, special agents from my office obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson, who was arrested and booked in the Lonoke County Jail. I would like to thank the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this arrest,” Griffin said. “Safeguarding our most vulnerable remains one of our highest priorities, and my office will continue to pursue justice for those who have been exploited.”
Griffin said that Johnson is facing charges including three counts of pandering or possession of visual or print medium depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.
